Does YouTube restricting a video also stops Filmot from retrieving its subtitles?

Restrictions on access to a video or its captions can prevent Filmot from collecting new subtitles or transcripts. Age-restricted and members-only videos may still appear with basic metadata but without searchable captions.

Availability can change. A transcript collected while a video was accessible may remain in Filmot's historical index even if the current YouTube page no longer offers it.

Where does Filmot's search data come from?

Filmot independently indexes publicly accessible YouTube video and channel information, including metadata and available subtitles, captions and transcripts. It does not use the official YouTube Data API to collect this information.

Coverage depends on what is accessible when Filmot collects the information; the index is not a live copy of YouTube.
