Hello Friends and welcome to the tutorial on creating simple plots using iPython.

I hope you have, IPython running on your computer.

మీకంప్యూటర్పైIPythonఉందనిఆశిస్తున్నాను.

At the end of this tutorial, you will be able to, Create simple plots of mathematical functions. Use the Figure window to study plots better.

Lets start ipython.

ipythonమొదలుపెడదాము.

Open the terminal and type ipython -pylab and hit enter.

టర్మినల్ఓపెన్చేయండిమరియుipython-pylabఅనిటైప్చేయండిమరియుఎంటర్ప్రెస్చేయండి.

Pylab is a python library which provides plotting functionality.

Pylabఅనేదిప్లాటింగ్ఫంక్షనాలిటీఅందించేఒకపైథాన్లైబ్రరీ.

It provides many other important mathematical and scientific functions.

ఇదిమరెన్నోముఖ్యమైనగణితమరియుసైంటిఫిక్ఫంక్షన్లనుఅందిస్తుంది.

After running, IPython -pylab in the shell you will see some information about ipython and pylab followed by the In[1] prompt

షెల్లోIPython-pylabరన్చేసినతరువాతమీరుipythonమరియుpylabగురించికొంతసమాచారముచూస్తారు. దీనితరువాత In[1] ప్రాంప్ట్వస్తుంది.

But if you get an error like `ERROR: matplotlib could NOT be imported! Starting normal IPython.`

Then you will have to install the matplotlib and run this command again.

Now type 'linspace' followed by a '?' mark in your ipython shell

as the documentation says, it returns num evenly spaced samples, calculated over the interval start and stop.

To illustrate this, lets try to generate 100 points.

Type linspace within brackets 1 comma 100 comma 100 and hit enter.

As you can see a sequence of numbers from 1 to 100 appears.

Now lets try to generate 200 points between 0 and 1.

we do that by typing linspace within brackets 0 comma 1 comma 200.

Here,0 is the start , 1 the stop and 200 the number of points.

In linspace the start and stop points can be integers, decimals , or constants.

Let's try and get 100 points between minus pi to pi.

Here 'pi' is a constant defined by pylab.

ఇక్కడ 'pi' అనేదిpylabనిర్వచించినఒకకాన్స్టంట్.

Save this to the variable,say p.

దీనినివేరియబుల్కుసేవ్చేయండి. దానిని p అందాము.

If we now type len within brackets p we will get the no. of points.

ఇప్పుడుమనముlen(p) అనిటైప్చేస్తే, మనకుపాయింట్స్వస్తాయి.

len function gives the no of elements of a sequence.

"lenఫంక్షన్ఒకసీక్వెన్స్యొక్కఅంశములసంఖ్యనుఇస్తుంది.

Let's try and plot a cosine curve between minus pi and pi. For this we use the plot command. Here cos(p) gets the cosine value at every point corresponding to point p.

-pi మరియు pi లమధ్యఒక cosine curve ప్లాట్చేయుటకుప్రయత్నిద్దాము. దీనికిమనముప్లాట్కమాండ్ఉపయోగిస్తాము. ఇక్కడపాయింట్ p కుసంబంధించినప్రతిపాయింట్వద్దcos(p) కు cosine విలువవస్తుంది.

We can save cos(p) to variable cosine and then plot it using the plot function.

మనముcos(p) నివేరియబుల్ cosine కుసేవ్చేయవచ్చుమరియుప్లాట్ఫంక్షన్ఉపయోగించిదానినిప్లాట్చేయవచ్చు.

Now to clear the plot ,we use the clf closing brackets function

ఇప్పుడుప్లాట్నుక్లియర్చేయుటకు, మనముclf() ఫంక్షన్ఉపయోగిస్తాము.

This is done, because if we wish to make another plot, it will overlap the previous plot.

మనముమరొకప్లాట్చేయాలనిఅనుకుంటేఅదిఇదివరకుచేసినప్లాటుపైపడుతుందికాబట్టిమనముఈపనిచేస్తాము.

As we do not wish to clutter the area with overlaid plots , we just clear it with clf().

ఆప్రాంతమునుమనముఒకదానిపైమరొకటిఉన్నప్లాట్లతోగజిబిజిచేయాలనిఅనుకోవడములేదుకాబట్టిమనముదానినిclf() తోక్లియర్చేస్తాము.

Now, lets try a sine plot.

ఇప్పుడుమనముఒక sine ప్లాట్ప్రయత్నిద్దాము.

We can study the plot better on the plot window by using the various options available on it.

ఒకప్లాట్నుప్లాట్విండోపైఅందుబాటులోఉన్నవివిధఆప్షన్లనుఉపయోగిస్తూమరింతబాగాతెలుసుకోగలము.

Let us have a look at these options.

ఈఆప్షన్లనుఇప్పుడుమనముచూద్దాము.

As we can observe, moving the mouse pointer along the plot gives us the location of each point on the plot

మనముచూస్తున్నట్టుగా, ప్లాట్వెంబడిమౌస్పాయింటర్కదిలించడమువలనప్లాట్పైప్రతిపాయింట్యొక్కస్థానముతెలుస్తుంది.

To the bottom left of the window,there are a few buttons.

విండోయొక్కక్రిందిభాగములోఎడమవైపున, కొన్నిబటన్లుఉన్నాయి.

The right most among them is for saving the file.

వీటిలోఅన్నింటికన్నాకుడివైపునఉన్నది, ఫైల్నుసేవ్చేసేందుకుఉన్నబటన్.

Just click on it and type the file name.

దానిపైక్లిక్చేయండిమరియుఫైల్పేరునుటైప్చేయండి.

We will save the file by the name sin_curve in pdf format.

మనముప్లాట్నుsin_curveఅనేపేరుతోpdfఫార్మాట్లోసేవ్చేద్దాము.

As you can see we can specify the format of file from the dropdown.

మీరుచూస్తున్నట్టుగా, మనముడ్రాప్డౌన్నుండిఫైల్ఫార్మాట్నునిర్దేశించవచ్చు.

Formats like png ,eps ,pdf, ps are available.

png, eps, pdf, psవంటిఫార్మాట్లుఅందుబాటులోఉన్నాయి.

Left to the save button is the slider button by which we can specify the margins.

సేవ్బటన్కుఎడమవైపునస్లైడర్బటన్ఉంది. దీనిద్వారామనముమార్జిన్లునిర్దేశించవచ్చు.

Left to this is the zoom button by which we can zoom into the plot.

దీనికిఎడమవైపున, జూంబటన్ఉంది. దీనితోమనముప్లాట్లోనికిజూంఅవగలము.

Just specify the region to zoom into.

మనముజూంఅవ్వాలనిఅనుకుంటున్నప్రదేశమునునిర్దేశించండి.

The button to the left of it can be used to move the axes of the plot.

దానికిఎడమవైపునఉన్నబటన్సహాయముతోప్లాట్యొక్కయాక్సిస్లనుకదిలించవచ్చు.

The next two buttons with left and right arrow icons change the state of the plot and take it to the previous state it was in.

ఎడమమరియుకుడిఆరోఐకాన్లుకలిగినతరువాతిరెండుబటన్స్ప్లాట్యొక్కస్థితినిమారుస్తాయిమరియుదానినిఇదివరకుఉన్నస్థితికితీసుకొనివెళ్తాయి.

It more or less acts like the back and forward button in a browser.

ఇదిఇంచుమించుఒకబ్రౌజర్లోబ్యాక్మరియుఫార్వర్డ్బటన్లాగాపనిచేస్తుంది.

The last one is 'home' referring to the initial plot.

చివరిది 'home' బటన్. ఇదిప్రారంభపాయింట్నుసూచిస్తుంది.

Pause the video here, try out the following exercise and resume the video.

Plot (sin(x) into sin(x)) by x.

(sin(x)*sin(x))/x ప్లాట్చేయండి.

1. Save the plot by the sin square by x.pdf in pdf format.

Second one. Zoom and find the maxima.

2. జూంచేసిమాక్సిమాకనుగొనండి.

3. Bring it back to initial position.

Now, lets revise quickly what we have learnt today.

To Study Ipython with pylab.

1. Ipythonనుpylabతోనేర్చుకోవడము.

To Use the linspace function to create num equally spaced points in a region.

2. ఒకప్రాంతములోnumసమానస్పేసులుకలిగినపాయింట్లనుక్రియేట్చేయుటకుlinspaceఉపయోగించుట.

To Find the length of sequences using len function.

3. lenఫంక్షన్ఉపయోగించిసీక్వెన్స్లయొక్కపొడవుకనుగొనుట

Plot mathematical functions using plot.

4. ప్లాట్ఉపయోగించిగణితఫంక్షన్లుప్లాట్చేయుట.

To clear drawing area using clf.

డ్రాయింగ్ఏరియానుclfఉపయోగించిక్లియర్చేయుట.

To Use the UI of plot for studying it better and using functionality like save,zoom and moving the plots on x and y axis.

ప్లాట్యొక్క UI ఉపయోగించిదానినిమరింతబాగాతెలుసుకొనుటమరియుసేవ్, జూంవంటిఫంక్షనాలిటీస్ఉపయోగించుటమరియుప్లాట్లను x మరియు y యాక్సిస్లపైకదిలించుట.

Create 100 equally spaced points between minus pi by 2 and pi by 2?
